Feature Artist of the Week: Yolanda Be Cool

Published December 1, 2023

In 2010, Matthew Handley and Andrew Stanley merged their passions for multicultural melodies with their skills as DJs to release an iconic track that resonated across the globe: "We No Speak Americano." This club-busting debut, which included collaboration with DCUP under their Sweat It Out label, went viral and achieved over 5 million sales worldwide. The track distinguished itself in the disco-funk dance genre with samples from Renato Carosone's 1956 Italian hit, "Tu Vuò Fà L'Americano," adding a contemporary dance twist to the mix.

After their stellar entrance onto the dance scene, Yolanda Be Cool continued to captivate audiences with albums like Ladies + Mentalmen and Je Suis Music, fusing electro swing with toe-tapping house beats. The duo is known for creatively blending various EDM elements such as tribal tech, minimalism, and disco to produce an irresistibly dance-inducing sound.

Pushing boundaries in the industry, Yolanda Be Cool produced "Segunda" specifically tailored for DJ Chris Lake's electrifying sets. Moreover, they've often been seen performing back-to-back (B2B) with fellow Aussie artist FISHER, bringing high-energy performances that are talked about long after the music stops. Yolanda Be Cool has also expanded their horizon with their latest venture, a record label called SWEATRZ, where their single "Hip Trumpets" showcases their evolution as DJs and producers.

Their diverse output and adaptability have made them a staple in the electronic music world, as they continue working with various labels and exploring different sounds. Fans eagerly await their energetic live shows and new releases, as Yolanda Be Cool shows no signs of slowing down on their musical journey.
