I. Jordan Announces Debut Album 'I Am Jordan' Featuring 'Real Hot N Naughty'

Published February 8, 2024

I. Jordan has revealed their forthcoming debut album titled 'I Am Jordan,' set for release on May 10 through Ninja Tune. The album, a collection of 12 tracks, can be pre-saved or pre-ordered by eager fans.

The DJ and electronic music producer has cited joy as the core theme of the album—particularly celebrating the joy of being a trans person and the collective happiness of creating music with other trans individuals. 'I Am Jordan' promises to be a personal journey through dance music, elevating sounds synonymous with northern dance culture, including donk and hardstyle, and integrating elements of trance and house music. The goal is to convey the energy of a lively I. Jordan performance, drawing on their extensive DJing and producing background.

The album also includes 'Real Hot N Naughty,' a fresh dance track voiced by Felix Mufti, known for their role on 'Sex Education' and previous collaborations with Jordan at Glastonbury. Jordan and Mufti, who share common roots in queer, working-class backgrounds, set out to create an anthem that represents their shared culture with humor and resilience.

The accompanying music video for 'Real Hot N Naughty,' directed by Elif Gonen, adds a visual element to the song, featuring Jordan and Mufti stirring up a party in a local bingo hall. The concept highlights both the playful and the significant, connecting Jordan's varied life experiences and identities.

Jordan, expressing pride in the album's community aspect, highlights the interconnectedness of the people in their life, including friends who have been supportive throughout their transition. This network, including trans friends and Reddit group chats, underscores the collaborative spirit that permeates the album.

The album tracklist teases an engaging lineup of songs:
1. 'When Lights Flash'
2. 'Casino High'
3. 'Real Hot N Naughty' (feat. Felix Mufti)
4. 'The Countdown' (feat. Taahliah)
5. 'Butterlick' (feat. Sister Zo)
6. 'Reification And Pathetic Fallacy'
7. 'People Want Nice Things'
8. 'Round N Round'
9. 'The Woodpecker'
10. '7 Degrees Of Despondent'

12. 'Rapt Finis'

Beyond the album, I. Jordan looks forward to performing at this year's Field Day in east London, sharing the stage with artists such as Justice, PinkPantheress, and 2ManyDJs. The album 'I Am Jordan' serves as a milestone, following the release of previous EPs like 'DNT STP MY LV,' 'For You,' and 'Watch Out!'.

I. Jordan has previously spoken about the vital role music plays in their life, noting that it's not just about producing sounds but also affirming their humanity and existence.
