Downtown Ukiah is gearing up for a special evening of jazz at Mama’s Medicinals Hall, featuring an impressive lineup of musicians. On Friday, January 12, the hall will echo with the sounds of Grammy-winning instrumentalist Paul McCandless, guitar virtuoso John Stowell, and acclaimed jazz vocalist David Post. Visitors can indulge in the rhythms starting at 7 p.m., with doors opening 30 minutes prior.

An Evening of Jazz Talent

Paul McCandless brings his multi-instrumental mastery to the stage, drawing from a rich 60-year career that includes his work with recognized ensembles like the Paul Winter Consort and OREGON. McCandless's contributions to music span diverse genres, traversing both classical and jazz landscapes with ease.

Joining him is John Stowell, whose guitar prowess has not only been celebrated in Guitar Magazine but who also has shared his knowledge as a writer. His noteworthy career highlights touring with Paul Horn in the Soviet Union during a historical 1983 trip. Stowell has collaborated with various renowned jazz figures, adding to his already impressive reputation.

David Post, whose musical roots stem from classical choral traditions, has evolved into a significant force on the international jazz scene. Post has pursued and shared the stage with talented musicians like Dave Holland, George Russell, and Kenny Wheeler. His influence extended to Russia, both touring and helping the Saint Petersburg jazz scene grow from 2008 to 2020.
