Ukiah Senior Center Commemorates 50 Years with ‘An Affair to Remember’ Gala

Published January 17, 2024

The Ukiah Senior Center is celebrating a milestone of half a century of service to the local and neighboring communities with a fundraising gala titled ‘An Affair to Remember’ on Saturday, February 10th. This special event promises to be an exceptional evening, aimed at gathering support for the center's enduring commitment to seniors and disabled adults.

Supporting Continued Service

Funds raised during the event will be directed towards the upkeep of Bartlett Hall and will assist with the various expenses required to run the center's programs and activities. As the Ukiah Senior Center operates without financial assistance from local government entities, it depends heavily on the generosity of the community through donations, grants, and endowments.

A Night of Entertainment and Generosity

The event is set to take place at Carl Purdy Hall on the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds. Attendees will be treated to a full service bar and appetizers prepared by Chef Lisa, followed by a chance to participate in Silent and Dessert auctions. For the main course, a dinner catered by the Redwood Empire Lions Club will be served, featuring TriTip and Prawns, with sides of baked potatoes and salad accompanied by rolls with Rosemary-garlic butter. Adding to the celebratory atmosphere will be musical entertainment from the band ‘Decades’, covering hits from a range of eras, to ensure a lively dance floor.

Joining as Sponsors

Members of the community have the chance to sponsor the gala at various contribution levels, receiving benefits such as reserved tables, complimentary tickets, wine, and public recognition for their support. These sponsorships and ticket sales are crucial for maintaining essential services offered by the center, like door-to-door transportation, affordable nutritious meals, adult day care, seminars and opportunities for social engagement essential to the well-being of seniors.

For sponsorship inquiries, Sheryl Mitcham, the event's chairman, can be reached at 707-462-4343 X 7004 or via email at [email protected]. Those interested in attending can purchase tickets from Bartlett Hall, Mendocino Book Company or online.
