Fourth Edition of San Roque Jazz Festival Set to Begin

The town of San Roque is gearing up to welcome jazz enthusiasts to the fourth edition of its much-anticipated Jazz Festival. The event is scheduled to run from Thursday, April 4 to Saturday, April 6. Jazz aficionados can look forward to a series of performances held at the esteemed Juan Luis Galiardo Theatre, with the festival's opening act featuring a masterclass in the Alcalde Fernando Palma building.

Prelude to the Festival: A Masterclass

The festival will commence with an insightful masterclass on Thursday at 8pm. San Roque's very own pianist, Juan Galiardo, will lead the session titled 'Keys to understanding and enjoying a jazz concert more. Musical notions for non-musicians'. The masterclass will take place in the Alcalde Fernando Palma building, formerly known as Pósito.

A Weekend of Jazz Performances

As the festival progresses to Friday, at 8pm, the Juan Luis Galiardo Theatre will present 'La danza de un ángel'. The lineup includes a diverse group of talented musicians: Guillermo McGill on drums, Chiqui Cienfuegos on piano, Gal Maestro on double bass, Bernardo Parrilla on saxophone, and Álvaro Vieito on guitar.

The culmination of the festival on Saturday offers a grand finale with 'Rizoma Trío. X Aniversario', featuring Enrique Oliver on saxophone, Pablo Báez on double bass, and Sergio Díaz Muñoz on drums. What's more, an array of guest artists will grace the stage, including Juan Galiardo on piano, Atsuko Shimada on piano, Perico Sambeat on saxophone, Fernando Broz on flute, Bruno Calvo on trumpet, Álvaro Vieito and Tito Alcedo on guitars, Jesús Santiago on percussion, Raquel Pelayo with her vocals, Joaquín Sánchez on clarinet, and Arturo Serra playing the vibraphone.
