Born in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Goodwyn was a foundational member of April Wine, contributing to every release by the band. Throughout his career, he briefly ventured into solo work during the band's hiatus in the 1980s and also authored two books, including his 2016 memoir Just Between You and Me and the 2018 fiction novel Elvis and Tiger.

April Wine's success is marked by numerous accolades, including their induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2010. Goodwyn himself was honored with the National Achievement Award at the 2003 SOCAN Awards and received an East Coast Music Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. With 11 Juno nominations for April Wine and another for his 2018 blues album, Goodwyn's contribution to music has been significant and enduring.

Earlier this year, Goodwyn stepped back from touring with April Wine, performing his last show with the band in March in Truro, Nova Scotia. His voice and legacy will continue to rock fans for generations to come.
