Published February 8, 2024

In a landmark celebration of their two decades in music, the famous Taiheiyo Shiranui Orchestra has announced the release of their first-ever greatest hits compilation titled "Rock de Naoshi Best." The band, which once claimed the title of Japan's top rock group, had originally disbanded in 2015. After their split, the band members went their separate ways but later made a surprise reunion in 2018, much to the delight of their fans.

A Journey Through 20 Years of Music

The upcoming best-of album is a celebration of the band's musical journey, with tracks that have defined their sound over the years. From their beginnings as SAYONARA Space Age to their collaboration with long-time friend Niimariko from HOMM Yo, the album will showcase a variety of seminal tracks. There will be 20 songs in total, including classics and newer recordings such as a 2024 rendition of "Tatoeba Boku ga Uretara," and last year's hit, "Rock de Naoshi Blues." Fans can also expect to find exclusive audio commentary from the band members commemorating their 20supth anniversary, and even a mysterious rare bonus track.

Exclusive Event and Release Details

Further adding to the excitement, the orchestra has scheduled a live performance event at Shimokitazawa Rokude Monai Yoru. A significant venue for the band, as it stands on the site of the former Shimokitazawa Shelter where they have performed numerous times since their inception. This event, set for March 3rd, will also serve as the initial selling point for the anticipated album before it becomes widely available through mail order and traditional record stores. The collection is a double CD offering, with Disc 1 featuring tracks like "Rock de Naoshi Blues" and "Kōkōsei kurai," and Disc 2 boasting the collaborations with Niimariko and the fresh 2024 take on "Tatoeba Boku ga Uretara," topped off with the unique anniversary audio commentary from the band members.

As the release date of March 3, 2024, approaches, excitement is building among fans. The band's new album, "Rock de Naoshi Best," will be brought out by Yanagawa Records and will come as a 2-CD set cataloged as YNGW-039. Alongside the album, fans can look forward to additional commemorative activities, including a live tour and a music video, celebrating the Taiheiyo Shiranui Orchestra's storied two-decade tenure in rock 'n' roll.
