Justice Announces New Album 'Hyperdrama' Featuring Tame Impala

Published January 24, 2024

The French electronic music duo Justice, comprised of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, is set to unveil their new album titled 'Hyperdrama' on April 26. The album will be available through Ed Banger Records and Because Music, and fans have already been given a taste of what to expect with two new singles: the Tame Impala-collaborated 'One Night/All Night' and the track 'Generator'.

New Singles Tease Upcoming Album

Before the full release, the duo teased their upcoming album with a preview featuring Kevin Parker of Tame Impala's vocals. To further ramp up the excitement, the album can already be pre-ordered or pre-saved by fans, with digital and various vinyl options to be provided.

The new singles highlight Justice’s signature blend of styles. The duo described 'One Night/All Night' as a melding of stark electronic beats with the disco grooves associated with Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, creating a sound that constantly switches between genres without fully settling into one. The track is said to symbolically switch instantly from one musical style to another, a theme that is consistent throughout the 'Hyperdrama' album.

A Blend of Disco and Electronic Battles

'Generator,' on the other hand, combines energetic disco-funk with hard-hitting electronic music, a mix very much in line with Justice’s penchant for fusing divergent sounds. The band likens this track to a musical tussle, where disco and electronic elements are in a dynamic struggle for dominance, rather than coexisting in harmony.

The music video for 'One Night/All Night,' brought to life by Phantasm and directed by Anton Tammi, also serves as an artistic visualization of the album's style, as described by Tammi. The creative intent captures a journey into the heart of Justice's new music, likening it to a rave of lights within human organs.

Justice's Musical Journey and Upcoming Performances

'Hyperdrama' marks an important return for Justice, following their 2016 album 'Woman' and its subsequent remix album 'Woman Worldwide.' Augé also explored his own musical avenues with the solo project 'Escapades' in 2021, which manifested his assortment of melodic ideas carried over the years.

The announcement of the new album comes with news of the band's planned performance at Coachella 2024. This event is highly anticipated as it will debut their yet-to-be-seen new live show, promising fans a fresh experience in sync with their latest musical direction.
