Published December 26, 2023

K-pop sensation Seventeen has taken fans by surprise by releasing a trot music single titled “God of Light Music”. The track, which debuted on Tuesday, was originally part of the promotional material for their 11th EP, Seventeen's Heaven. The song was also featured in the group's documentary for their YouTube series Going Seventeen, which sparked a strong desire from fans for an official release. Responding to this enthusiasm, Pledis Entertainment confirmed the official rollout of the music.

Seventeen's Documentary Leads to an Official Release

The single pays homage to the classic Korean trot genre and accompanies a Korean trot rendition of “God of Music,” the main track from their 11th EP. The group's EP has seen remarkable success, selling over five million copies within the first week of its release, an unprecedented achievement in the K-pop industry. It performed well internationally too, securing the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200 and remaining on the chart for five consecutive weeks.

Other K-pop Highlights

Further exciting the Korean pop music scene, group Billlie announced the release of their first EP in Japan, scheduled for February 7. The EP, Knock-on Effect, follows their successful Japanese debut single and includes five tracks with both original and Japanese-language versions. In addition, Billlie plans to host concerts in Tokyo and Osaka shortly after the EP release.

Fans of former GFriend member Yerin will be delighted to learn she will be holding her first overseas fan meetup in Taipei on January 14. After her solo debut last May, Yerin has continued to grow her presence in both music and acting. Similarly, Blackpink's Lisa is set to join the roster for a French charity concert in Paris next January, sharing the stage with other international artists for a philanthropic cause while celebrating her own achievements, including setting a record for Instagram followers among K-pop artists.
