Published December 8, 2023

In exciting news for fans of indie rock, The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie are set to jointly headline the Sunday slot at the All Points East festival on August 25, in Victoria Park, London. This will be a notable event as they stand alongside other headliners like Loyle Carner and LCD Soundsystem who are performing on earlier dates within the festival.

20 Years of Iconic Albums

The inclusion of these bands in the All Points East lineup coincides with the 20th anniversary of their defining albums, 'Give Up' by The Postal Service and 'Transatlanticism' by Death Cab for Cutie. Fans of both groups will have an additional reason to celebrate as this marks The Postal Service's first show in London after a decade.

Benjamin Gibbard, who is an integral member of both bands, will be a prominent figure on stage. He will perform with The Postal Service, accompanied by Jimmy Tamborello and Jenny Lewis, as well as with Death Cab for Cutie, joined by Nick Harmer, Dave Depper, Zac Rae, and Jason McGerr.

Special Anniversary Tour and Performances

Beyond All Points East, the two bands have also planned a joint tour in the United States celebrating the anniversaries of their respective albums. This tour is beckoning fans with the anticipation of heartfelt nostalgia and stellar performances. Ticket sales for these events are starting December 12, giving admirers of these indie rock staples a chance to secure their spots.

In reflection on these anniversaries, Gibbard has expressed the significance of looking back at the past to understand one's present self, indicating both anticipation and clarity as he heads into these celebratory performances.

Where the new wave of indie bands may emulate the sound of the past, both The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie have carved their unique legacy in the music industry, and this joint headlining act seems to be a testament to their lasting impact on the genre.
