Aespa's 'Better Things' Hailed by New York Times Among Best Songs of 2023

Published December 7, 2023

The all-girl K-pop ensemble, aespa, has earned a spot on the New York Times' list for the 'Best Songs of 2023' with their English single 'Better Things.' It's a momentous occasion as it's the sole K-pop track to make the list, which praised the song for its 'ingeniously cascading vocal harmonies' and a vibe of 'absolutely no regrets.'

A Spectacular Entry for aespa

Released in August, 'Better Things' marks aespa's venture into the minimal dance genre and made its premiere on stage during the group's Los Angeles concert. Building on their success, aespa recently unveiled their fourth EP 'Drama,' marking a series of high note achievements which include selling over one million copies in its debut week and securing a place on the Billboard 200 at number 33.

Beyond Music: Recognizing Influence

aespa's influence transcends music, with Financial Times naming them among the '25 most influential women of 2023,' where they stood as the only Korean entry. This acknowledgment showcases their impact on the global stage, underscoring the substantial reach K-pop artists like aespa have across different realms.

New Musical Offerings

Another SM Entertainment group, NCT127, is set to release their first winter-themed track, 'Be There For Me,' which will offer fans a warmer approach different from their usual powerful performances. This special single will feature three tracks and is scheduled for release on December 22, with physical albums to follow shortly after.

Meanwhile, GOT7's Bambam prepares to embark on a solo US tour starting in February next year, highlighting his recent solo activities that began with a successful tour across Asia. And not far behind, boy band Epex will be touring Japan from February 2024, promoting their most recent EP to their international fanbase.
