Published February 7, 2024

Coventry's esteemed musical institution, the Heart of England Co-operative Concert Orchestra, is gearing up to deliver a spellbinding performance aimed predominantly at young audiences this spring season. For over a century, the orchestra has been a pillar in Coventry's music scene, and it continues its legacy as it enters its 106th year, under the supporting wings of the Heart of England Cooperative Society.

An Afternoon of Musical Storytelling

In what promises to be an engaging event for families, the orchestra will perform an assortment of musical pieces on March 16th, starting at 3 pm. Highlighting the event is the performance of Prokofiev's 'Peter and the Wolf', a narrative that has captivated children and adults alike through the generations. Alongside this classic, attendees can look forward to renditions of 'Toy Symphony', 'Cinderella', 'The Typewriter', 'Theme from E.T', and 'Danse Macabre', with Iain Lauchlan, a renowned actor and presenter, providing narration. The concert is set to take place at Bethel Church in Spon End, Coventry.

Ticket Information and Charitable Cause

Pricing for the event is family-friendly, with adult tickets at £10, concessions at £7.50, and a nominal £1 fee for children under 16. Prospective audience members can purchase tickets at the door or in advance online. Besides offering an afternoon of delightful music, the concert serves a higher purpose by supporting two charities: Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind and Ninety Nine to One. The previous year saw the orchestra raise over £1860 for different charities, showcasing their commitment to philanthropy alongside their musical endeavors.

Open Invitation to Aspiring Musicians

The orchestra also extends an open invitation to potential new ensemble members looking to be part of their musical family. Interested individuals are encouraged to reach out and explore the possibility of attending a rehearsal. The event represents not just an opportunity to enjoy an entertaining musical outing, but also to engage in supporting commendable charitable efforts.
