Published February 25, 2024

On April 6th, the Knox Hall venue in downtown Sudbury will resonate with the spirit of Scotland, as acclaimed Scots songwriter David Leask brings a cross-cultural experience to the audience in honor of Tartan Day. This special day is dedicated to celebrating Scottish heritage and Leask is ready to delight fans with his performance.

A Musical Odyssey

Leask’s event, aptly titled ‘Evening of Celtic Soul,’ is expected to take listeners on a sonic journey spreading across the Atlantic. Having released seven albums that have garnered critical success and multiple international songwriting accolades, Leask has also been named Mississauga’s Performing Artist of the Year in 2022.

His latest record, 'Voyageur in Song,' impressed music critics and landed a nomination for Contemporary Album of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2022. Leask plans to blend traditional Scottish songs with his original Celtic soul music, imparting his distinctive Scottish humor throughout the evening.

A Showcase of Talent

The multi-instrumental prowess of Sean O’Connor will accompany David Leask, bringing flute, whistle, accordion, and saxophone to the ensemble. O’Connor is no stranger to the stage, having played alongside significant names in jazz as well as popular artists across various genres.

Local fans might recognize Leask from his performances in various Sudbury venues, and the upcoming concert promises to be an engaging showcase of his voice, songwriting abilities, and musical talent on both guitar and piano.

Tickets are available for general admission, and Knox Hall is prepared to open its doors for an evening that promises not just music but an emotional voyage with laughter, genre-hopping, and a display of instrumental adeptness.
