Billy Corgan to Co-host a New Year's Eve Bash on NBC5

Renowned musician Billy Corgan, frontman of the iconic band Smashing Pumpkins, and also recognized for his endeavors in professional wrestling and tea business, is set to embrace a new role: television host. Teaming up with his wife, Chloe Mendel, a creative fashion designer, the couple is slated to join a team of six hosts for WMAQ-Channel 5's live New Year's Eve special titled 'A Very Chicago New Year!'

A Celebration to Remember

The program is scheduled to kick off at 11 p.m. on December 31st, promising viewers an electrifying sendoff to the year with celebrations broadcasted from three separate venues in the region. After performing on last year's show, Corgan is stepping up as a host, joined by Mendel, and featuring at their very own Highland Park teahouse, Madame ZuZu's. Audiences can anticipate an evening filled with musical performances by Corgan himself and a selection of jazz musicians.

Star-studded Hosting Lineup

The event will also see 'Chicago Today' hosts broadcasting from the newly revamped Ramova Theatre in Bridgeport, and the pairing of news anchor Evrod Cassimy with CMT host Marley Sherwood from the historic Palmer House Hilton in downtown Chicago. In addition to Corgan's act, the special includes performances from the talented singer-songwriter Ivan Cornejo and popular rock group Mt. Joy.

Chicagoans are spoilt for choice as they can also opt to ring in the new year with 'Countdown Chicago', the traditional live special aired on competing network WLS-Channel 7.
