Valletta Set to Host Malta's Largest New Year's Eve Bash

Published December 29, 2023

As the old year gives way to the new, Valletta is readying itself to welcome throngs of revelers with its grandest New Year's Eve fiesta, anticipated to draw a crowd exceeding 50,000 in the famed St George's Square. The capital city's historic center will brim with festivity from 8:30 PM until the wee hours at 2 AM, showcasing some of Malta's finest musical talents against a dazzling backdrop of pyrotechnics.

Music and Merriment to Ring in the New Year

The celebration kicks off with Lara and the Jukeboys setting the rhythm for the night, followed by standout performances from The Palace String Orchestra, guided by Ryan Paul Abela, featuring a roster that reads like Malta's who's who of the music scene. AIDAN, Drakard, Klinsmann, Jasmine, Megan May, Sarah Bonnici, and the entrancing Emma Muscat are among the special acts set to take the stage.

Enthralling the audience will be tunes that capture the essence of the outgoing year and timeless classics that never fade away.

A Countdown to Remember

As midnight approaches, anticipation will heighten with the event's dynamic hosts – Ron, Taryn Mamo Cefai, and Keane Cutajar – gearing up the buzz alongside DJ Koroma and DJ Miggy. They will orchestrate an electric mash-up of the year's best dance anthems, complemented by stage effects and a fireworks display orchestrated to usher in the New Year with a memorable bang.

Minister Owen Bonnici and Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef have expressed their pride and excitement for hosting what's set to be a signature event for the island nation. They eagerly await the fusion of mirth, music, and memory-making at Valletta's heart.

To assist partygoers, special public transportation arrangements will be made, ensuring hassle-free travel to and from the venue. Additionally, the public lift at Upper Barrakka will also operate for extended hours to manage the influx effectively.

The national New Year's Eve spectacle is a collective effort, meticulously organized by G7 Events in collaboration with the Valletta Cultural Agency, and is sustained by Malta's Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government, together with the Malta Tourism Authority's contribution.
