Published February 4, 2024

At the pre-telecast of the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, siblings Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell were elated as they received the Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media. The ceremony took place on a Sunday, amid the glitz and glamour of industry elites.

Winning in Style

The 22-year-old 'Bad Guy' singer and her 26-year-old brother stepped onto the stage with bright smiles. Eilish was spotted wearing an oversized white shirt paired with wide-legged black pants, her look completed by pink socks, black high-heeled shoes, and a selection of jewelry that added sparkle to her attire. Her red-tinted hair contributed an extra touch of flair to her ensemble. Finneas complemented the aesthetic with a patterned black hoodie matched with a shirt and pants of the same color.

Award-Winning Collaboration

The iconic duo accepted the award for their song 'What Was I Made For?' featured on the soundtrack of the 2023 fantasy-comedy 'Barbie.' The song not only charmed its way into the hearts of fans, peaking at number 14 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart but also earned critical praise, finding its place on numerous year-end lists. Besides their win for Best Song Written for Visual Media, Eilish and O'Connell were also nominated for other Grammy categories such as Record and Song of the Year for their creative efforts.

The Creative Process

In a candid interview with Zane Lowe for Apple 1, Eilish discussed the creative process behind the track, revealing that it started as an ode to the Barbie character and the emotions she believed the character would embody. However, the song evolved into a personal reflection for Eilish, who later realized that the lyrics she thought were inspired by Barbie actually resonated with her own feelings. She described the discovery as one of the most surreal experiences of her life, acknowledging that while she wrote the song in the third person, it was deeply personal.
