Method Man's Daughter Chey Steps into the Hip-Hop Scene

Published March 1, 2024

The legacy of Hip-Hop seems to be a birthright in the Smith family as Method Man's daughter enters the music world with her own rap career. With genes steeped in the genre's culture, Chey, also pronounced as 'shy,' has officially launched her journey as an emcee.

Following A Legendary Path

Chey has not been shy about stepping into the enormous shoes of her father, a celebrated member of the iconic Wu-Tang Clan. The aspiring rapper introduced herself through her debut track, 'Hair and Nails', which notably samples Raekwon's classic 'Ice Cream'. Her ambition didn't stop there, and soon after, she rolled out another track, 'Boujee & Ghetto', further solidifying her entrance onto the rap scene.

A Standalone Star

In a music industry where kinship often opens doors, Chey is determined to etch her name on merit. In conversing with Shaoliiin Entertainment, she insists on the importance of hard work over nepotism. She acknowledges her father's unwavering support but emphasizes his desire to see her put in the effort to succeed independently.

While Chey makes her debut, she is not the first progeny of the Wu-Tang Clan to pick up the mic. The legacy continues across the Clan's family tree, with the formation of 2nd Generation Wu by offspring of Old Dirty Bastard, U-God, and Method Man in 2019. Ghostface Killah's son SUN GOD has also joined his father on multiple tracks. Chey’s teaser to 'Boujee & Ghetto' reveals she is ready to contribute her own voice to the evolving story of Wu-Tang Clan legacies.
