Former Plumber Trades Wrenches for Microphone with Upcoming Tour and Movie Deal

Published December 25, 2023

Kev Crane, a 51-year-old former plumber from Quorn, Leicestershire, has found himself in the spotlight after his hidden singing talent was discovered while working on a bathroom job. Leaving behind his plunger and pipes, Crane has not only secured a record deal but is also inspiring a Hollywood movie based on his extraordinary life shift.

An Unexpected Discovery

Crane, who once had a stint in a band before pursuing plumbing, never forgot his passion for music. It wasn't until a chance encounter while singing during a bathroom installation that his musical abilities caught the ear of Paul Conneally, the owner of News Reality Records. The neighbor's curiosity about the voice behind the walls led to an introduction that would change Crane's life.

From Plumber to Pop Star

After building a home-studio and revitalizing an album he began 25 years prior, Crane's blend of '80s-influenced sound appealed to Conneally, who swiftly decided to collaborate with the erstwhile tradesman. The pandemic lockdown had provided Crane the opportunity to dive back into his musical endeavors, culminating in an upcoming tour that's starting in football clubs after finishing one final plumbing gig.

Hollywood Calling

Crane's incredible journey didn't just pique the interest of the music industry; it captured the imagination of influential Hollywood director Billy Ray. Known for his work on 'Captain Phillips' and the 'Hunger Games' series, Ray saw the beauty and inspiration in the story of two men who reconnected with their musical past and, as a result, found salvation in their renewed friendship and shared dream. A script centered on Crane's transformative experience is currently in development.
