International and Local Talent Come Together for Charity Concert in Kuching

A coalition of international and local musicians and artists are converging for a commendable cause on December 3, 2023, in Kuching. The 'He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother Volume 2' variety concert is slated to commence at 5pm at the ideally located Café Café on Jalan Rubber, contributing its charm to an evening of artistic wonder and goodwill.

In Concert for a Cause

This year’s charity variety concert is purpose-driven, aiming to amass critical funds for noble initiatives such as the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society, Penan Women’s Project, and Kuching Food Aid. The ensemble of performances promises an eclectic mix, having previously attracted a formidable audience and exceeded fundraising goals with a remarkable RM22,149 gathered in 2019.

A Star-Studded Line-Up

The impressive list of performers will feature international talents like UN opera singer Michael King from Nigeria and award-winner At Adau, alongside the distinguished 'sape master' Matthew Ngau Jau. Local champions Ashley Soh and Dion Das anak Louis will grace the stage, in addition to acts like the saxophone ensemble Zaid & Combo and the Zephyr belly dancing trio.

Country music's very own 'Simple Rhythm Guy', Alfonso Alphnouses Balan, and the Chinese opera talents Gena Sim and Eugene Suboh are other highlights among the 11 skilled acts. Additionally, a family band, 'Sweet Children O’ Mine', is expected to captivate the audience with their familial harmony.

Art for Aiding

Not to be outshone, visual artists are also pitching in, with Gerald Goh, Fletcher Then, and other local creatives branding themselves as 'Artists with a Heart' by donating half of their artwork’s sale proceeds. Prior to the concert, Café Café showcases these art pieces starting from November 27, offering patrons a glimpse of the wide range of mediums and genres on display.
