Brit Taylor Embraces Bluegrass with New Album and Single

Published January 11, 2024

Country music's Brit Taylor is reconnecting with her Eastern Kentucky roots through her latest work. She's set to enchant fans with a genuine bluegrass experience in her new single 'Saint Anthony' and the forthcoming album 'Kentucky Bluegrassed,' which is expected to drop on February 2nd. This comes a year after her successful project 'Kentucky Blue,' produced by Sturgill Simpson, as well as her memorable Grand Ole Opry debut. To celebrate the release, Taylor has lined up live shows at Nashville's Station Inn on February 8 and at The Burl in Lexington, KY, on February 10.

A Bluegrass Album That's Deeply Personal

Comprising eight songs, 'Kentucky Bluegrassed' features a mix of original tracks and refreshed versions from her previous album. Taylor taps into the bluegrass sounds she remembers from her upbringing, presenting a modern take on the traditional. Her venture into bluegrass isn't sudden; it's a genre that has always resonated with her since childhood, fostered by her grandfather's musical tastes.

The Making of 'Saint Anthony'

'Saint Anthony,' an original from the album, epitomizes bluegrass with its narrative of loss and the quest for recovery. Taylor co-wrote the song with Adam Wright, using it to tell a story infused with regret but also an uplifting spirit. She credits the song's inspiration to an everyday experience coupled with the romantic history of her grandparents.

Collaborative Production

For the production of 'Kentucky Bluegrassed,' Taylor trusted the expertise of her husband and accomplished musician, Adam Chaffins. His deep understanding of both bluegrass and her vocal nuances ensured that the album's production truly reflected her vision. This project is an especially meaningful achievement for Taylor, as it merges her love for Appalachian heritage with her established country music persona.
