KT&G Sangsang Madang Calls for Indie Artists to Join the '2024 My First Concert'

Published March 22, 2024

KT&G Sangsang Madang is on the lookout for fresh talent with the launch of its annual music initiative, the '2024 My First Concert.' They are inviting indie musicians who have yet to headline a solo concert in a venue of over 100 seats to apply for this opportunity. The goal is to uncover new artists and assist in their professional journey.

Support for the Indie Music Scene

'My First Concert' is now entering its 9th year and has been a springboard for indie musicians since 2015. By offering support to selected artists, the program helps them stage their first major solo concerts, hence the name 'My First Concert.' KT&G Sangsang Madang is committed to nurturing the development of indie music in Korea.

Opportunities and Rewards

The application period is open until April 26th. Musicians can find all the details on the KT&G Sangsang Madang website starting from the 25th, and through their official Instagram handle. After a rigorous selection process, four lucky teams will be chosen. They each will receive 2 million KRW to cover their concert production costs plus the chance to perform at the prestigious KT&G Sangsang Madang Hongdae Live Hall. On top of this, they will be given support for creating professional profiles through photo and video shoots.

Proven Track Record

Through 'My First Concert,' over 43 indie music teams have had the spotlight shine on them. Notable alumni include 'Silica Gel'—winners at the Korean Music Awards—and 'Jisokuri Club,' recognized by EBS Hello Rookie. Both had their premiere solo concerts at the KT&G Sangsang Madang Hongdae venue.

A Hub for Culture and Arts

KT&G Sangsang Madang is not just about music; it's a cultural hub that encourages and exhibits the creative work of emerging artists. With establishments in Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, the organization brings culture and arts to various regions. Attracting close to three million visitors annually, it's evident that KT&G Sangsang Madang is a pivotal entity in Korea’s cultural scene, consistently offering over 3,000 cultural programs every year.
