As we stride into the new year, the Central Coast celebrates with an array of arts and music events that capture the soul of our vibrant community. This week's spotlight shines on the Sand City SandBox, which is hosting a unique event called 'Music in Motion,' set to take place on Sunday at 4 p.m. This extraordinary performance unites world-class musicians with the art of dance in an immersive experience.

Exceptional Talent on Stage

The 'Music in Motion' program is graced by the musical talents of harpist Katherine Siochi, an internationally celebrated soloist and acclaimed orchestral harpist. She's joined by the skilled flutist Katrina Walter and SandBox's Grammy-nominated cellist, Michelle Djokic, the founder and director of SandBox. This trio of artists will enchant the audience with their harmonious collaboration.

Varied Musical Selections

A diverse selection of eight pieces have been curated for the event, showcasing compositions by artists such as Arvo Pärt, Maurice Ravel, and Claude Debussy, among others. The performers will feature in different combinations, adding unique flair to each piece.

Dance Meets Music

Adding a dynamic dimension to the program, dancers from the Carmel Dance Festival company, including Savannah Dunn, Madison Falconer, and Brian Golden, will perform choreographed pieces that embody the 'motion' aspect of the event, blending gracefully with the evocative sounds of the music.

A Collaboration of Arts

Michelle Djokic expresses excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing the shared mission of SandBox and the Carmel Dance Festival to foster artistic unity. The event promises to introduce a fresh, visual component to the music, heightening the sensory delight for patrons.
