Peetz School Delights Community with Festive Instrumental Concert

Published December 9, 2023

On the chilly evening of December 8, 2023, Peetz School opened its doors to the community for a heartwarming annual winter instrumental concert. This year's concert was a special showcase of budding musical talent, ranging from the confident strums of third-grade ukulele players to the harmonious renditions of both the elementary and junior high/high school bands. Under the watchful eye and skillful direction of Jamie Wheelock, the students delivered a performance that captured the spirit of the holiday season.

A Stage of Young Musicians

The night began with the third graders stepping into the limelight as they presented 'Ukulele Winter,' a piece that demonstrated their newly acquired ukulele skills. The audience was treated to the sweet melodies emanating from these small instruments, proving that even the youngest of Peetz's students could hold their own on the stage.

As the evening progressed, the Peetz Elementary Band took the audience on a nostalgic journey with the classic 'Silent Night.' The tranquil notes floated through the air, weaving a calming sense of peace that one often seeks during the hustle of the festive season.

When Bands Unite

The concert then transitioned to the robust sounds of the Peetz Junior High and High School Band. The combined ensembles performed 'Winter Holiday,' a piece that filled the room with a festive cheer. The performance was a testament to the hours of practice and dedication shared by the students and their conductor.

Overall, the annual concert was more than just a music performance; it was a celebration of young talent and a treasured gift to the community. The Peetz School's commitment to the arts is clearly reflected in the enthusiasm and skill shown by its students, ensuring that the holiday season started on a high note for all who attended.
