On Thursday, 14th March, Warwick Academy hosts the rebranded 'Sounds of Spring,' which will mark the first instance of this annual music concert serving to honor Rhondelle Tankard's memory. Rhondelle, a former student from 1982-1987, is remembered with great fondness for her significant contributions to the Academy's community, both as a spirited individual and as a passionate musician within the orchestra and choir.

A Tribute Inspired by Student Discovery

In an emotional revelation, Year 13 students from Warwick Academy, after visiting the 9/11 memorial in New York City, discovered Rhondelle's photograph in her school uniform. This poignant moment led to the decision to create a student-led music event. Initially held annually on September 11th, the decision has been made to move the concert to springtime, ensuring an ongoing and meaningful homage to Rhondelle's spirit. This will be the practice for the foreseeable future.

Supporting the Arts and Honoring a Legacy

Proceeds collected from the 'Sounds of Spring' concerts are devoted to dual worthy causes: furthering the school's general Music Fund and supporting a special fund in Rhondelle's name that assists students in pursuing summer music intensives abroad.
