The jubilant romantic comedy musical, 'They’re Playing our Song' (Tocando nuestra canción), directed by the renowned Antonio Banderas, is set to premiere at the Soho Theatre in Malaga this coming June. This production marks the fourth musical presented by the Soho CaixaBank Theatre, and the stage is set to welcome a show boasting an infusion of laughter, music, and romance.

With rehearsals starting in spring, the musical stars Miquel Fernández and María Adamuz and is inspired by the successful Broadway classic. The story, penned by Neil Simon with music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager, chronicles the comedic and tumultuous relationship between a composer, Vernon Gersch, and a lyricist, Sonia Walsk. Their love story echoes the real-life romance of Hamlisch and Sager and explores the chaos of mixing business with pleasure. The original show was lauded with Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations.

The Team Bringing Music to Life

Marvin Hamlisch's compelling scores will be performed under the musical direction of Arturo Díez Boscovich, accompanied by professionals such as Alejandro Andújar for set and costume design, lighting by Juan Gómez-Cornejo and Carlos Torrijos, sound by Roc Mateu and choreography by Borja Rueda. Video-scene direction will be helmed by Francesc Isern.

A Thematic Representation of Love and Humour

Following previous productions like A Chorus Line, Company, and Godspell, the theatre embarks on this new venture that promises a vibrant tale threaded with love. Addressing professional and personal relationships, the play aims to showcase the balancing act of love and work, egos and insecurities, all wrapped in comedy and rhythm.

With the notion that love and humor can be healing in today's world, the musical sets out to entertain audiences while reflecting on universal themes. This heartwarming production assures an unforgettable experience filled with laughter and emotion.
