A Rendezvous with Music, Art, and Laughter: Edmonds’ Upcoming Cultural Events

Edmonds is brimming with cultural activities this season, offering events for music lovers, art aficionados, and comedy fans alike. Kicking off the season is the Edmonds-Woodway High School Music Big Band Swing Dance. Get ready to step into rhythm at the Edmonds Waterfront Center, located at 220 Railroad Avenue, on Friday, March 22. Doors swing open at 6 p.m., with dancing starting at 6:30 p.m. This all-ages event promises an evening filled with lively big band tunes and dancing feet. Professional instructors Kevin Buster and Julia Bakke will offer a free swing dance lesson to all attendees. In addition to the Edmonds-Woodway High talents, jazz bands from College Place Middle School and Madrona Middle School will dazzle the crowd with their performances. While dancing, guests can enjoy a variety of sweet and savory treats at the Savoy Café. Entry is free with a suggested donation of $10 at the door.

State Fair Extravaganza: Music Galore

The 2024 Evergreen State Fair teases a grand lineup for its Grandstand Stage concerts, featuring big names such as Josh Turner, Martina McBride, and Flo Rida. These amazing acts are set for Monday, August 26th; Tuesday, August 27th; and Friday, September 1st, respectively. Tickets go on sale on Friday, March 29th, at 10 a.m. Fans of the fair can gain early access to tickets by signing up for the fair's e-newsletter. Besides the main concerts, the fair will host a variety of motorsport events, including Monster Truck Mayhem and Demo Derby. Concert tickets come with the added bonus of fair gate admission.

Artistic Flair: The EPIC Showcase

The Artists and Writers of EPIC, a collective featuring a mix of creativity, have an exhibit and book sale planned for April. Gerald Bigelow's poetic artwork, Laura Kemp's mixed media creations, alongside other artists and writers, will be showcased at Café Louvre on South 5th Street, with a special event on Thursday, April 18, from 5-6:30 p.m. These artists will not only display their works but also make some available for purchase. This promises to be an engaging social event meshed with the artistic spirit of Edmonds.

Comedy Spectacle: Laugh-A-Thon 2024

For those who enjoy a good laugh, the Edmonds Chamber Foundation is setting the stage at The Old Edmonds Opera House-Edmonds Masonic Center for the Edmonds Laugh-a-thon on Saturday, May 4. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with a show start at 8 p.m. The comedy showcase, hosted by Vince Valenzuela, will feature five stand-up acts. Tickets are purchasable online, with proceeds contributing to the Foundation’s WISH Fund. VIP passes include a pre-show meet and greet with the comedians. Whether it’s for the love of music, the appreciation of art, or the joy of laughter, Edmonds invites all to indulge in the cultural feast it has to offer this season.
