In a recent survey of music streaming preferences among students, it was revealed that Taylor Swift and Noah Kahan top the list of favorite artists. The data, which was collected from a variety of class standings including freshmen to fifth-year students, highlights the strongly preferred music platforms and genres as well as the favored artists and albums that resonate with the student body.

The survey received 229 responses that break down into 52 from freshmen, 87 from sophomores, 55 from juniors, 31 from seniors, and 4 from fifth-year students. It identified that when it comes to music streaming services, Spotify reigns supreme, followed by Apple Music, with a few students choosing Amazon and YouTube Music for their listening needs.

Genre Preferences

When discussing music genres, indie and alternative music lead the popularity contest with 165 votes, while pop music followed closely with 137 votes. Parallel to these genres, Taylor Swift secured the top position as the most preferred artist with 35 votes, and Noah Kahan came in second with 15 votes, both artists garnering attention across all class years.

Albums and Songs on Repeat

Album preferences saw Taylor Swift's '1989 (Taylor's Version)' and Noah Kahan's 'Stick Season' each receiving 12 votes. Olivia Rodrigo's 'GUTS' slightly edged them out with 13 votes. These preferences varied slightly between the classes, with different albums claiming the top spot for sophomores and juniors. The results also showed a vast range of favorite songs among students, with only a handful receiving more than one vote.
