Glastonbury Festival 2025 Lineup Announced with Star-Studded Performers
The Glastonbury Festival is set to make a big splash this summer before it takes its regular break, known as a fallow year, allowing the farmland in southwest England to recuperate from hosting about 200,000 festival-goers.
Organizers revealed the lineup on Thursday, featuring headline acts for one of the most renowned music festivals worldwide, scheduled to take place at Worthy Farm from June 25 to June 29, 2025.
Among the exciting announcements, the English band The 1975 will headline the main Pyramid Stage on Friday night. American singer and actress Olivia Rodrigo will take center stage on Sunday evening, promising a vibrant performance.
Legendary performer Neil Young, now 79, will headline Saturday night, showing that his musical influence remains strong. In addition, Scottish icon Rod Stewart has been confirmed for a special legends slot on Sunday afternoon.
While not headlining, Charli XCX, who recently captured the spotlight by winning five Brit Awards, will perform on the Other Stage Saturday night, continuing her rise in popularity.
Closing the Other Stage on Sunday will be the iconic English electronic group The Prodigy, marking their first performance at Glastonbury since the passing of their frontman, Keith Flint, in 2019.
Other notable acts set to perform include Canadian singer Alanis Morissette, who will make her Glastonbury debut, and the reunited U.S. pop group Scissor Sisters.
Despite excitement for the upcoming acts, there are no scheduled performances for the festival's first two days, Wednesday and Thursday. However, attendees often engage in various informal activities as they set up their tents.
There will be significant attention on The 1975, led by Matty Healy, as they have headlined various festivals across the U.K. yet have not performed at Glastonbury before. Recently, the band faced controversy when a judge ruled that they could not be held personally liable for losses incurred from a Malaysian festival that was canceled due to backlash from a kiss shared between Healy and a male bandmate on stage.
The kiss led to considerable criticism in a country where homosexuality is illegal and carries severe penalties, raising discussions among LGBTQ+ groups about the risks the band’s actions posed for the community.
More acts are expected to be announced in the weeks leading up to the festival. Tickets, which sell for around £380 ($490), are typically sold out quickly, although additional tickets may be available through resale.
As June approaches, festival-goers are optimistic about the weather, hoping to avoid the dreaded mud common in previous years.
