Columbus Rock Band Golomb to Perform at Café Bourbon Street

Published December 14, 2023

On a vibrant musical evening this Thursday, the rock enthusiasts of Columbus are in for a treat as the local rock group Golomb gears up for a performance at Café Bourbon Street. Joining them are two more bands hailing from Ohio, all ready to set the stage on fire before the headlining act by the Cincinnati-based art-punk cello-rock duo, Lung, along with Columbus's own doom-metal outfit, kitsch.

Meet The Band Members

Golomb is a trio that brings together the tuned-in chemistry of newlyweds Xenia Holm-Shuman (bassist/singer) and Mickey Shuman (guitarist/singer) with the rhythmic prowess of drummer Hawken Holm, who also happens to be Xenia's younger brother. Despite having extensive experience as a guitarist, Xenia found her groove in bass playing and embraced the collaborative songwriting spirit within Golomb since its formation in 2020.

The Live Performance Experience

Known for their relatively simple but energetic song structures, Golomb cherishes the live stage as their playground to improvise and magnify their music. Mickey Shuman enjoys the freedom live performances bring, especially the opportunity to 'get pretty noisy.' This improvisational aspect is echoed by Holm, who appreciates the art of transitioning between songs, whether smooth or rugged, enhancing the live show's dynamic feel.

The band invites audiences to come prepared for a night of dancing and powerful soundscapes. 'Some of our songs are noisy but danceable,' Mickey Shuman says, advising concertgoers to bring earplugs if necessary, but most importantly, to be ready to move to the beat.

Golomb's Upcoming EP

Excitement is also brewing for the band's first EP recording, which is completed, though its title and release date are still under wraps. While the band navigates their busy schedules and contemplates a future tour, Xenia urges fans to stay tuned for the official release hoping to connect with a broader audience once it's out. Holm shares his enthusiasm for the forthcoming music, noting his increased involvement and the joy found in deeper collaboration over the band's evolution.

The band's performance is slated to start at 7 p.m., and entry can be secured at a cost of $10 at the door. To keep updated with Golomb and their music, followers can check out their Instagram page for the latest updates.
