North Mississippi Allstars Bring the Sound of the Magnolia State
Mississippi is known for its deep musical roots, and even the way you say its name has a rhythm to it. It has given the world legendary musicians like Elvis Presley, Robert Johnson, and Jimmie Rodgers, and it maintains vibrant scenes in blues and country music.
One band that proudly reflects this connection to Mississippi is the North Mississippi Allstars, who will be performing at Moe’s Alley this Friday.
The North Mississippi Allstars were formed in 1996 by brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson. They made an immediate impact, earning a Grammy nomination for their first album, “Shake Hands with Shorty.” True to the “Allstars” in their name, this band collaborates with many other artists on their records. Their albums have featured contributions from well-known musicians such as Lucinda Williams, Mavis Staples, Jason Isbell, and many more. Their most recent album, “Set Sail,” released in 2022, includes a collaboration with Lamar Williams Jr., who is the son of a famous Allman Brothers bassist.
The concert at Moe's Alley starts at 9 p.m. on Friday, and doors will be open at 8. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $30 or for $35 on the day of the show. This is a 21-and-older event. For additional information, visit MoesAlley.com.
