Hermosa Beach Museum Throws Festive Party to Round Off a Fruitful Year

Published November 27, 2023

The Hermosa Beach Museum is set to host a festive holiday party early next month as a capstone to a year filled with achievements. The December 7th gathering will be an opportunity for museum supporters and community members to come together and toast to the season's cheer.

Celebrating Success and Holiday Spirit

Participants can look forward to an array of holiday treats, live music sets, and a chance to win exciting prizes through a raffle. Additionally, the party will showcase merchandise for purchase that highlights iconic locales from Hermosa Beach's rich history, such as the Mermaid bar and Insomniac coffeehouse, with the aim of stirring up nostalgic joy.

Museum Director and Curator Jamie Erickson emphasized the importance of the event as a break from the hustle of the festive season and a chance to relish the company of the museum's extended family. Erickson also hinted at the museum's prosperous year, indicating a notable rise in funds from various sources, including a high-attendance gala, without disclosing specific figures.

Path to Accreditation and Growth

Fostering educational initiatives and exhibit launches has led to increased museum visitation, aligning with the long-term goal of accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums. Hiring a full-time events and membership coordinator is a strategic move towards this aim, as it will allow for extended museum operation hours.

The museum's budget has impressively surged by 136% over three years, a testament to its growth and enhanced community service, as stated by Greg McNally, the president of the museum's board of directors. No reservation is required to join the holiday festivity, scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at the museum's location on 710 Pier Avenue.
