His charges included simple possession or casual exchange of a controlled substance, listed twice, along with one count regarding a violation of registration law, all of which are considered misdemeanors.

Rucker, who transitioned from pop-rock fame with Hootie & the Blowfish to a successful solo career in country music, was confirmed to have been apprehended by Us Weekly. After posting bail, he is no longer in custody according to reports from TMZ. His attorney, Mark Puryear, has noted that Rucker is fully cooperating with the authorities regarding these misdemeanor charges.

Rucker's switch to country music after departing Hootie and the Blowfish in 2008 marked a significant turn in his career.
