Easter Week Organ Concert in Marbella Featuring Sol Mayor Organ and City Choir

In celebration of Easter Week, the Fuerte Foundation is presenting a collaborative concert that will bring together the artistic talents of the Friends of the Sol Mayor Organ Association and the City of Marbella Polyphonic Choir. This special musical event is set to occur on Thursday, March 21st at 8pm, hosted at the Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación Church situated in the picturesque Marbella.

A Testament to Patience and Dedication

The beloved Sol Mayor Organ holds a history that stretches back to its initial construction in 1972. For over half a century, it remained incomplete, awaiting the funds necessary to add the missing pipes. In a triumphant turn in 2023, the organ was finally brought to completion, a momentous occasion 52 years in the making.

An Evening of Baroque Splendour

Audiences can look forward to a night filled with the music of esteemed baroque composers. The talented Ana Lucía Buzón Ríos, an award-winning organist from Granada and a seasoned educator in music, will be illuminating the evening with pieces by Louis Marchand, Georg Böhm, and Johann Sebastian Bach. Additionally, there will be a performance of Ramiro Real's Missa Pro Defunctis, with the skilled City of Marbella Polyphonic Choir under the guidance of director Óscar L. Sánchez Valverde.

The choir has been a cornerstone of the local cultural community since its inception in 1993 by a group of passionate musicians. Over three decades, they have shared their harmonious melodies across Andalucia and other parts of Spain, embodying the spirit and love for choral music.

While there is no cost for admission to this exquisite blend of choral and organ music, the event's organizers encourage and appreciate donations. Contributions received will aid the Friends of the Sol Mayor Organ Association in their efforts to preserve and upkeep the now complete Sol Mayor Organ.
