Soul Sessions Ignite Vivid Sydney 2024 with Late Nights and Diverse Sounds
Vivid Sydney 2024 is ready to transform the city's nights with its stellar music lineup, boasting a variety of events that blend soulful tunes with immersive experiences. Two leading labels, Trackwork and SUMAC, are joining forces to curate a unique late-night dance event at Machine Hall, a historic substation turned into a venue. This special party, called +WINDCHILL, will take place on June 9 and feature innovative artists such as LAVURN, YL Hooi, and Nina Buchanan, leading attendees through experimental soundscapes.
An Eclectic Mix of Music and Storytelling
However, music isn't the only offering. Bedtime Stories, part of the Vivid Sydney Supper Club, will mix whimsy and humor with personal anecdotes from well-known storytellers like Annabel Crabb, Benjamin Law, and Julia Zemiro. Mary's Underground will host an unconventional adults-only kids party, complete with games, comedy, and a laid-back vibe. It's an adults-only affair that promises to be a highlight of the night.
Celebrating Diversity and Heritage
Artists spotlighting their cultural backgrounds will take center stage at various shows throughout the event. CLUB 4A, for example, highlights Asian diasporic talents, while indigenous artists such as Jen Cloher and the renowned band No Fixed Address will showcase their unique stories through powerful performances. Attendees will also be treated to Black Milk's genre-blending music and Ngulmiya's mix of classical music with traditional singing, highlighting the diversity of artists in this year's lineup.
A Surprise Lineup at Iconic Venues
Beyond the intimate settings, well-known venues like the Sydney Opera House will host powerhouses of electronic music, including Fever Ray and the debut Australian tour of Arca. Local fans can also look forward to rare performances by Sky Ferreira and a farewell show from beloved label Spunk Records, which is set to exit the music scene after 25 years. Tumbalong Park completes the offering with a roster of free performances, ensuring every taste is catered to and the start of winter in Sydney is nothing short of spectacular.
With an array of events that go beyond just music, Vivid Sydney 2024 is poised to offer thought-provoking entertainment that extends into the late hours, fueled by creativity and the city's lively spirit.
