Liam Gallagher Criticizes Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame After Oasis Nomination

Published February 12, 2025

Liam Gallagher has spoken out against the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, labeling it as a place for "wankers" after Oasis received a nomination.

The nominees for the 2025 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction were unveiled on February 12, revealing 14 new names. Among the nominees were the Gallagher brothers, along with notable acts such as New Order, Cyndi Lauper, Mariah Carey, and The White Stripes.

Artists are eligible for induction 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording. Other musicians included in this year's longlist are legendary grunge band Soundgarden, hip-hop legends OutKast, and rock groups like Phish, Bad Company, and The Black Crowes.

In reaction to Oasis' nomination, Liam took to his official X/Twitter account. He wrote, "RNR hall of fame is for WANKERS." When one of his followers asked him what he would say if they won, Liam humorously responded, "Obv go and say it’s the best thing EVER."

This isn’t the first time Liam has criticized the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Last year, following another nomination for Oasis, he made several disparaging posts on social media, stating, "Fuck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS LG." He advised fans not to participate in the fan ballot, claiming it was a waste of time, and referred to it as "all a load of bollox."

When asked about his feelings regarding the NME Godlike Genius Award in 2018, he admitted, "I mean cmon you can’t be turning things like that down." In a follow-up interview with The Sunday Times, he reiterated his stance, saying, "As much as I love Mariah Carey and all that, I want to say: do me a favour and fuck off," emphasizing that he wouldn’t want to be part of a hall of fame he finds questionable.

In more recent news, Gallagher addressed the controversy surrounding ticket sales for the Oasis reunion shows. Many fans reported that their tickets were canceled by Ticketmaster, despite having purchased them legitimately. The tickets, which went on sale in August, were initially intended to prevent reselling at inflated prices, yet many ended up on secondary sites. Live Nation and SJM announced that tickets sold through unauthorized sites would be canceled and made available again at face value.

Responding to a fan's concern about the ticket situation, Liam stated, "I don’t make the rules. We’re trying to do the right thing. It is what it is, I’m the singer. Get off my case."
