No Earbuds Celebrates Five Years with Pomona Indie Music Festival

Published June 3, 2024

Music festivals have become a staple in Southern California, rivaling the popularity of classic pool parties. Within this colorful landscape, indie music enthusiasts look for a more personalized experience, and Jamie Coletta of No Earbuds is rising to the occasion. Transitioning from a career at major labels to founding her music PR and consulting firm, No Earbuds, Coletta is now organizing a festival to celebrate the company's fifth anniversary.

A Dream of Indie Music Advocacy

Coletta, whose alma mater is the University of Hartford, had a stint at renowned labels like RCA Records. However, her defining chapter was at Sideonedummy Records, an independent label, until an unfortunate layoff steered her towards entrepreneurship. No Earbuds was born out of an unwavering belief in her capacity to champion the music she loves without compromises.

Celebration through Festival

The No Earbuds Festival, slated for Saturday, June 15, at The Glass House and The Haven Pomona, will feature an array of talent, including Glass Beach, Pool Kids, Teens in Trouble, and more. With venues in close proximity, festival-goers can easily hop between shows, creating an intimate community vibe, reminiscent of other beloved music events.

No Earbuds' Indie Spirit

Coletta's past exposure to mainstream genres left her desiring a more personal connection with music. After striking out on her own, No Earbuds reflects her taste and the music that resonates with her on a deeper level. She now seeks to create spaces where independent artists take center stage, challenging the industry norms that often sideline emerging talent.

The Vision for the Future

No Earbuds Fest intends to carve out a unique niche within Southern California's saturated festival market, celebrating the spirit of independent music. Despite budget constraints in the shadow of larger events, Coletta's creative approach aims for inclusivity and visibility for artists who don't typically headline major festivals. With this first year, she's planting the seeds for growth with the aspiration to extend similar experiences to more regions.

Festival Accessibility

The chosen venues exemplify No Earbuds' commitment to independent music by providing an all-ages welcome and accessible experience. Challenging the standard big budget events, the festival strengthens the potential for indie music to thrive, making a bold statement within the festival realm.
