Published December 16, 2023

The festive spirit is being amplified across the island with the launch of the Carols in Town mini concert series, organized by the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), under the auspices of the Prime Minister's Office – Culture. These events are set to bring yuletide joy to the island's four towns, starting on Saturday, December 16, and concluding on Tuesday, December 19. Each evening will commence at 6 p.m., promising to delight attendees with a line-up of entirely local talent. The NCF's initiative is designed to envelop the island in the spirit of the season through a diverse offering of musical performances.

Schedule and Performers

The concert series kicks off in Independence Square, The City, with an impressive roster of performers including Phoenix Steel, Kiah Shurland, King K, Sisters in Harmony, and many others. Following the initial show, the festivities will move to the north on Sunday, featuring entertainers like Skyy Dowridge, Barry Reid, and the acclaimed Heather Headley at Speightstown Esplanade.

As the week progresses, Monday's stage will be set in Holetown, St James, where musical acts such as Déjà VU and Peach Bless & Family will perform. The series will reach its grand finale on Tuesday at Oistins, with the Christ Church Foundation School Steel Orchestra and other notable acts set to entertain the crowd.

NCF's Mission with Carols in Town

Aisha Butcher, the NCF’s Music Officer (Organisations) managing the event, emphasized the importance of creating a festive environment that resonates with everyone. Carols in Town is geared toward fostering a sense of upliftment, inspiration, and unity amongst Barbadians by staging events rich with talent and festivity. The goal is to ensure that every islander finds reason to celebrate and feel the warmth of the season through these music-filled evenings.
