Green Day Dominating UK Charts with 'Saviors'

Published January 23, 2024

Rock band Green Day is making waves in the UK music scene, surpassing sales of all other artists in the top 10 of the UK albums chart with their latest album 'Saviors'.

Released just last week on January 19, the album has already garnered high praise, with some calling it their finest work since the iconic 'American Idiot'. Their 14th studio album is not just hitting the right notes with fans, but it's also setting the stage for the band's fifth Number One album in the UK.

The latest data from the Official Charts reveals that 'Saviors' has outsold the combined efforts of the top 10 albums at the midweek mark. If Green Day maintains this lead, 'Saviors' will join their previous chart-toppers, which include 'American Idiot', '21st Century Breakdown', 'Revolution Radio', and 'Father Of All Motherfuckers'.

Trailing behind Green Day in the chart race are albums from Neck Deep, Saxon, Noah Kahan, and The Weeknd. The final chart results will be announced on BBC Radio 1 this coming Friday.

Looking ahead, Green Day has announced their 'Saviors' world tour starting in 2024, which will include special performances of entire 'American Idiot' and 'Dookie' albums in celebration of their notable anniversaries. They also have a major gig lined up at Wembley Stadium among other UK and Ireland show dates.

Aside from their musical success, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has been making headlines for his influence on the LGBTQ+ community, being hailed as "a bisexual icon".
