Oklahoma City Hip-Hop Artist Jabee Signs with Mello Music Group

Published March 8, 2024

Oklahoma City native and hip-hop creative, Jabee Williams, known by his stage name Jabee, has recently inked a deal with Mello Music Group. The partnership was cemented in an unconventional way; upon their initial meeting, the label presented Jabee with a copy of 'The Invisible Man' by fellow Oklahoman Ralph Ellison. This thoughtful gift was a clear indicator to Jabee that Mello Music Group recognized and respected his dual passions for music and community advocacy.

A Celebration of Culture and Community

The signing was celebrated at The Clark OKC, a new event center in the historic Deep Deuce District. Family, friends, and supporters gathered to honor Jabee's accomplishments and toast to this new chapter in his career. The festivities took place with a striking view of the Oklahoma City skyline as a backdrop, underscoring Jabee's commitment to his roots in Oklahoma.

Music with a Message

At the heart of Jabee's music is a deep affection for Oklahoma and a dedication to authentic hip-hop. His work is also informed by his Christian beliefs. Alongside his music career, Jabee will continue his role as the executive director of LiveFree OKC, a nonprofit focused on violence reduction, and will keep his involvement with local businesses such as Scrambl'd and East Side Pizza.

Mello Music Group, now responsible for Jabee's marketing and promotions, will support his artistic endeavors while allowing him to stay true to his community-based efforts. This symbiotic relationship honours Jabee's unique position in the industry as both artist and local advocate, with the esteemed label championing his choice to remain based in Oklahoma City.

Increased Visibility and Creative Output

The event also served as a platform for the release of Jabee's new music, marking the beginning of what promises to be a prolific collaboration with Mello Music Group. One of Jabee's newest tracks, "Hear Me When I Pray", produced by Conductor Williams, aligns with this new phase of heightened exposure and activity for the Oklahoma artist.
