Eminem, Janet Jackson and Others Snubbed for Songwriters Hall of Fame
The 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees have been announced, and several high-profile nominees, including Eminem, Janet Jackson, and others, have not been included in this year’s class.
On January 22, the Songwriters Hall of Fame revealed the names of this year’s inductees after sharing the list of nominees in November. The artists who will be honored include George Clinton, The Doobie Brothers, Ashley Gorley, Rodney Jerkins, Mike Love, and Tony Macaulay.
Among the 26 nominees, there were notable names that did not make the final cut. In addition to Eminem and Janet Jackson, artists like Boy George, Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, N.W.A., and Bryan Adams were also nominated but did not get inducted.
This year, only six artists were selected for induction out of the total nominations.
The six inductees will be recognized during the 2025 Induction & Awards Gala, which will take place in New York City in June.
Last year, the inductees included R.E.M., Timbaland, Steely Dan, Hillary Lindsey, and Dean Pitchford, with Cindy Walker and Prince receiving posthumous honors. Artists like SZA and Diane Warren were also given special awards.
In 2023, the Hall welcomed inductees including Jade, Snoop Dogg, and Electric Light Orchestra's Jeff Lynne, along with Gloria Estefan, Teddy Riley, Glen Ballard, and Liz Rose.
In a recent review of Eminem’s new album, NME pointed out a particularly touching song titled Temporary, which showcases the rapper’s emotional depth as he pays tribute to his daughter, Hailie.
Alongside this news, Eminem is nominated for Best Rap Performance at the upcoming Grammys and has expressed his belief that Kendrick Lamar is set to win all the awards he is nominated for, stating, “Kendrick is gonna sweep that shit. He’s going to, and he should.”
