Liam Payne's Ex Cheryl Cole Speaks Out on His Death
Liam Payne, the former member of One Direction, tragically passed away at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony on October 16 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Cheryl Cole, Payne's ex-girlfriend and the mother of their seven-year-old son, Bear, has shared her grief following this heartbreaking loss. She took to Instagram on October 18 to express her feelings about Liam's untimely death.
In her message, Cheryl wrote, "As I try to navigate this earth-shattering event and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I'd like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being."
She emphasized that Liam was more than just a pop star; he was a son, brother, uncle, dear friend, and a father to Bear, who now faces the reality of never seeing his dad again. Cheryl expressed deep concern about the negative media coverage, saying, "What troubles me the most is that one day Bear will have access to the abhorrent reports and media exploitation we have seen in the past two days. It breaks my heart that I cannot protect him from that in his future."
Cheryl included a photograph of Bear and Liam together in her post and made a heartfelt plea to the public. She asked people to think about the harm caused by certain reports and comments and to show Liam the dignity he deserves even after his death. Cheryl concluded with a request for peace, saying, "Please give Liam the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death, to rest in some peace at last."
Cheryl and Liam's relationship began when they first met in 2010 during The X Factor when Cheryl was a judge. However, they didn't reconnect romantically until 2015, resulting in them starting their relationship in 2016 and having Bear the following year before ultimately separating in 2018.
Despite their split, both Liam and Cheryl have managed to maintain a positive coparenting relationship. Cheryl has praised Liam as a great father, stating, "He’s much softer than me. I will be the one saying, 'Just one square of chocolate.'" Liam reciprocated this sentiment in interviews, affirming his commitment to being a present father in Bear’s life. He expressed happiness about being viewed as a superhero by his son and emphasized the importance of their time together.
Cheryl's poignant words reflect the deep emotional ties that remain between Liam, her, and their son, even in the face of such a tremendous loss. The couple's journey from early meetings on a talent show to their experiences as parents is a testament to their shared history and the love they both have for Bear.
