Channeling the charisma of Elvis Presley, hundreds of fans donned their most dazzling sequined jumpsuits for a unique journey from Sydney to the rural town of Parkes on board the 'Elvis Express.' The journey, which has become a cherished tradition for Elvis enthusiasts, is far from a quiet ride. Passengers were treated to hours of entertainment by Elvis tribute artists crooning classic hits, bringing the King's spirit to life as they traveled the 350-kilometer route to the Parkes Elvis Festival.

Festivities in Australia's 'Elvis Capital'

Parkes has earned the title of 'The Elvis Capital of Australia,' bursting into life each year as approximately 25,000 die-hard enthusiasts gather to celebrate their idol. This year's event is themed around 'Jailhouse Rock,' a tribute to the 1957 Elvis movie, complete with street markets, contests, and parades. Fans cooled their pompadours and adjusted sweat-soaked faux sideburns, eager to join the festivities as they departed Sydney's Central Station.

Since its inception in 1993 by restaurant owners Bob and Anne Steel, the Parkes Elvis Festival has grown exponentially, evolving into a major event for both local and international fans. To the delight of passengers and as a fitting send-off, an announcement let everyone know: 'We can confirm, Elvis has left the building,' signaling the train's departure to the Elvis capital.
