Israeli DJ RIMO Honors Nova Festival Victims at Massacre Site

Published November 28, 2023

In a moving tribute to the victims of the Nova music festival tragedy, Israeli DJ RIMO performed at the very location where lives were taken. On the somber date of October 7, 2023, attendees at the festival in Re'im near the Israeli-Gaza border fell victim to a terrorist attack by Hamas, which led to numerous deaths and abductions. The DJ's act of remembrance took place on November 28, facing a poignant display of the victims' photographs.

Musical Homage amidst Silence

With his music playing across an empty field, DJ RIMO faced hundreds of photographs of those who had perished, exhibiting the stark contrast between the joyful festivities that were once held and the current atmosphere of loss. The images were mounted on wooden posts, standing as a silent audience for the tribute, with a unique Israeli flag fashioned from sunflowers placed before them.

Remembrance and Unity

Despite the absence of physical attendees, the spirit of the 364 victims was very much present as their memories were honored through music. This sentiment was echoed in a social media post by Jewish Breaking News, which highlighted the enduring memories of those lost. A similar concert was previously held by organizers Omri Sassi and Nimrod Arnin, who also lost loved ones in the attack, in Sdot Yam to commemorate the victims.

The tribute by DJ RIMO reflects not only the individual effort but also the collective endeavors to remember and celebrate the lives of those who were unjustly taken. Such events represent a nation's resilience and its commitment to healing and hope amidst unimaginable sorrow.
