Lana Del Rey Shares Why She Decided to Get Married

Published December 8, 2024

Lana Del Rey recently opened up about her marriage and the significant reason it took her so long to walk down the aisle. The Young and Beautiful singer expressed her gratitude towards music producer Jack Antonoff, citing him as a key influence in her decision to marry.

During an event where she presented Antonoff with the Producer of The Decade Award at Variety’s eighth annual Hitmakers event, Del Rey stated, "I’m grateful for Antonoff for the example he gave me in his marriage to Margaret Qualley." She described how witnessing the way Antonoff looked at Qualley had a profound impact on her, saying, "He’s a big reason why I waited so long to get married and why I met my amazing husband."

The 39-year-old artist reflected on the challenges musicians face in finding the right partner, dubbing it a "singer’s curse." She lamented, "I feel like there’s a singers’ curse around meeting an honest partner who has no skin in the game, no dog in the race." This sincere observation underscores the difficulties many artists experience in their romantic lives.

Del Rey recently tied the knot with Jeremy Dufrene, whom she met in 2019. Their intimate wedding took place on September 26, 2024. In her heartfelt speech, she also touched on the pressure artists face to remain true to their personal values within a music industry that often conflicts with those values.

As she continues to share her journey, Del Rey is preparing to release her tenth studio album titled The Right Person Will Stay, which seems to resonate with themes from her love life, set to debut on May 21, 2025.
