Nintendo Launches New Music Service Featuring Iconic Game Tunes

Published October 31, 2024

And it’s available right now.

Nintendo, known as a leading name in the video game industry, has an impressive catalog of memorable music that has accompanied players on their gaming journeys for decades. With countless iconic melodies from well-loved franchises, Nintendo is excited to introduce its own music streaming service.

Nintendo Music is the name of this new service, showcasing the company's straightforward approach to naming. The app allows users to stream music from various Nintendo games or download tracks for offline listening. It features beloved scores from franchises such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong Country, Animal Crossing, Metroid, Fire Emblem, and many others, spanning from the 8-bit era of the NES/Famicom to the present day on the Switch.

Moreover, fans can expect to find Pokémon music included, even though Nintendo is not the direct developer of this series.

Nintendo Music provides a user-friendly experience, enabling players to search for tracks by individual games. In addition to this functionality, there are various curated playlists available. These include tracks organized by character themes and gameplay elements, such as music for boss battles, celebratory victory tunes, and a category named “New Adventures,” which highlights tracks often heard at the start of games or upon entering a new world map in RPGs.

For those who wish to keep the surprises alive when playing new games, the platform includes a feature called “spoiler prevention.” This allows users to exclude music from specific games within the pre-made playlists, ensuring that players can enjoy the story without accidental early reveals.

To access Nintendo Music, a paid subscription to Nintendo Switch Online is necessary. However, this service comes at no additional cost beyond the standard Nintendo Switch Online fee. Interestingly, you do not need to own a Switch console to enjoy this service; Nintendo Music can be accessed through a smartphone app available for both Android and iOS devices.

Following the recent release of the Alarmo alarm clock, which incorporates music from Nintendo titles, the launch of a full music streaming service seems like a natural progression. Fans will be pleased to know that Nintendo Music is now live and ready for users to explore.
