Glastonbury's New Ticket Purchase System for 2025 Festival

Published November 5, 2024

The Glastonbury Festival organizers have announced significant changes to the ticket purchasing process for the 2025 event, and many fans are expressing discontent.

This year's ticket sales are scheduled for November 14 and November 17, and for the first time, there will be an online queue system in place.

When fans log onto the Seetickets website, they will not be able to jump straight into buying tickets. Instead, they will be randomly assigned a position in a queue alongside many others who are also eager to secure their tickets.

Once the sale begins at 6 PM or 9 AM, participants will see a progress bar that indicates their position in the queue and how close they are to reaching the booking page. After completing the wait, fans will have a limited timeframe of 10 minutes to purchase up to six tickets.

The organizers claim that this new method will create a fairer ticket-buying experience. However, many fans believe that the change discourages persistence, arguing that casual participants now have an equal chance of securing tickets despite not being as dedicated.

While the process for completing the purchase will remain unchanged from previous years, the initial entry into the system is what is causing concern among prospective festival-goers.

Organizers have cautioned that if fans attempt to use multiple devices or browsers to increase their chances, it may lead to their IP addresses being blocked. This could prevent them from buying tickets altogether.

After the announcement, several fans voiced their frustrations on social media, with one expressing that the change seems to benefit those who are not genuinely committed, potentially reducing individual chances of success.

Additionally, many fans cited the recent chaotic sales of Oasis reunion tickets as an example of how a queue system might not work effectively. They worry about the potential for technical issues and other complications.

For many hopeful attendees, the prospect of navigating a challenging ticket sale is daunting, especially with the added layer of a digital queue.
