The B-52s to Headline Mosswood Meltdown with Star-Studded Lineup

Published February 1, 2024

The legendary new wave band The B-52s are gearing up to bring their electric performance to the Bay Area, headlining at this year's Mosswood Meltdown. This vibrant event will take place at Oakland's Mosswood Park over two fun-filled days, July 6th and 7th. Fans of new wave music can look forward to a high-energy event topped by a lineup of diverse acts.

Star-Studded Performances and Punk Euphoria

The B-52s, renowned for their catchy new wave tunes, will lead a roster of celebrated artists including Hunx & His Punx, bounce music icon Big Freedia, the influential punk rock band Redd Kross, and post-punk pioneers Bush Tetras. This year's Mosswood Meltdown promises an unforgettable experience with these acts setting the stage ablaze with their performances.

Adding to the excitement, the illustrious filmmaker and counterculture icon John Waters is set to host the festival for the tenth consecutive year. Waters is bringing his unique charm and wit to the event, which he humorously refers to as a time for 'musical mayhem' and celebration in the 'punk grime' of Oakland.

A Nostalgic Return to the Stage

Following their retirement from touring in 2022, The B-52s' return to the live music scene is much anticipated. Despite their touring hiatus, they have been delighting audiences with a residency in Las Vegas since 2023. Attendees at the Mosswood Meltdown can expect an explosive set filled with the band's hits such as 'Rock Lobster,' 'Love Shack,' and 'Roam' which have shaped dance floors for decades.

Other notable acts joining the lineup include punk forebearers Pure Hell, Gibby Haynes fronting the Paul Green Rock Academy, and Cher Strauberry with her new project WIFEY, promising a broad spectrum of punk and rock genres for festival-goers.

Ticket prices for the event start at $139, allowing attendees to dive into this musical extravaganza and indulge in the legacy and future of punk and new wave music.
