Jennie Releases Debut Album 'Ruby' and 'Like Jennie' Music Video

South Korean singer and Blackpink member Jennie has officially launched her first solo album, Ruby, on Friday.

The talented K-pop star, now 29 years old, also unveiled a music video for the album's second track titled "Like Jennie." In the visually striking video, Jennie is depicted floating inside a spacecraft while dressed in a vibrant crimson red space suit. As she reaches for a floating red pill, she takes it, causing her eyes to change colors and initiating a mesmerizing spin.

As the video progresses, viewers see Jennie dancing energetically with a large group, matched to the upbeat rhythm of the music. Surprisingly, at the end of the clip, she appears to transform into a capybara, adding an unexpected twist.

Prior to this album release, Jennie shared her collaboration track with Doechii, titled "ExtraL," as well as singles "Love Hangover" featuring Dominic Fike and "Mantra." Each of these songs was also accompanied by its own music video, further showcasing her artistic versatility.

In addition to these projects, Jennie collaborated with several artists on different tracks, including working with FKJ on "Intro: Jane with FKJ," and teaming up with Dua Lipa for "Handlebars." Other notable collaborations include features with Childish Gambino and Kali Uchis in the song "Damn Right."

The 15-track album features several other songs, including "Start A War," "With the IE (Way Up)," "Zen," "F.T.S.," "Filter," "Seoul City," "Starlight," and "Twin." Each song adds to the rich diversity of her debut solo album.

In her announcement of the album, Jennie expressed her excitement and gratitude, stating, "Just finished my first ever solo show and too overwhelmed. Will come back with more to share soon. Thank you to everyone who made this album possible and to my fans out there. You are my world. Thank you for listening to my baby. Love you all." She accompanied this message with a photo carousel showcasing her various styles and outfits.

In addition to her album release, Jennie is embarking on a tour this month, performing at select venues. Later this year, she will also reunite with her Blackpink bandmates Lisa, Rose, and Jisoo for a world tour, promising more exciting performances ahead.
