Kitaro and Zainal Abidin Set to Perform at Rainforest World Music Festival 2024
The vibrant Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2024 is gearing up to welcome the acclaimed composer and musician Kitaro for his debut performance at the prestigious event. The festival, which will come to life at the Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) in Damai from June 28 to June 30, promises to be a spectacular showcase of music and culture from around the globe.
Kitaro's Debut at RWMF 2024
Kitaro, renowned for his new-age music and mastery over a wide array of instruments, is expected to be a highlight of the RWMF 2024. The Japanese artist is celebrated for his electronic-instrumental music and for integrating traditional instruments from across the world into his performances, offering audiences a unique musical journey. The 'Kitaro Live World Tour' is eagerly awaited by fans and festival-goers who are excited to witness his broad musical repertoire live on stage.
Malaysia's Own Zainal Abidin at the Festival
Joining Kitaro is Malaysia's beloved artist Datuk Zainal Abidin, famed for his song 'Hijau'. His work has been critical in introducing 'World Music' to the Malaysian audience and remains an iconic part of the nation's music industry. Together with Kitaro, his performance is set to be one of the captivating acts gracing the festival this year.
Emerging Talents and Global Acts
Adding to the diverse lineup is Sarawak's emerging artist Belle Sisoski, who is making a name for herself with her music that promotes indigenous rights and environmental conservation efforts. Her approach to storytelling through music has won hearts locally and internationally. Alongside Belle will be other Malaysian stars such as Alena Murang, The Borneo Collective, and more, representing the rich cultural tapestry of Malaysia.
The festival will not only celebrate local talents but also feature a spectacular array of international acts, including Cuba’s Havana Social Club, the collaboration of Alright Mela Meets Santoo (Pakistan/France), and many others from various countries. In total, the RWMF 2024 will consist of 20 acts including 68 international musicians and 63 Malaysian artists, ensuring a vibrant and diverse cultural experience.
Tickets and Pricing
Tickets for this prime musical event are set to go on sale from mid-April. Festival attendees can choose between different ticket options, with a three-day pass priced at RM635, and one-day passes ranging from RM235 for early birds to RM333 for door sales, ensuring accessibility to a wide audience.
