The nominees for the 2025 BAFTA Rising Star Award have been announced, highlighting the talents of actors Marisa Abela, Mikey Madison, and Jharrel Jerome among others.

This year's complete list of nominees includes Marisa Abela for her role in Back To Black, Mikey Madison for Anora, and Jharrel Jerome for his performance in Unstoppable. The list is rounded out by David Jonsson for Alien: Romulus and Nabhaan Rizwan for In Camera.

The announcement took place during a press conference held at The Savoy Hotel in London, which was hosted by film critic Ali Plumb.

The Rising Star Award is unique as it is the only BAFTA award voted on by the British public. The voting is currently open, with the final round of voting set to occur between January 19 and February 13. The winners will be revealed during the BAFTA Film Awards ceremony on February 18. Last year's Rising Star award went to Mia McKenna-Bruce, known for her performance in How To Have Sex. Notable past winners include actors like Lashana Lynch, Kristen Stewart, and Letitia Wright.

The BAFTA longlists were shared last week, showcasing films with significant nominations. Leading this year is Jacques Audiard’s vibrant crime drama, Emilia Perez, which has received an impressive 15 longlist mentions, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Following closely is Edward Berger’s thriller, Conclave, garnering 14 longlist nominations, including categories for Best Film and supporting performances from Isabella Rossellini and Stanley Tucci.
